AI for restaurants: keep your menu, prices and hours up to date

Prices change, the menu changes, holiday hours change. The website is usually the last thing to get updated, because nobody can get a hold of whoever built it. Here's how AI helps, and how to fix the website part for good.

Using AI for restaurants doesn’t have to mean robots in the kitchen. For most restaurants in El Paso and Juárez, the real help is with everything around the food: the menu, prices, specials, reviews, and the website that’s supposed to show all of it.

We build websites for restaurants on both sides of the border, including El Sarape del Valle in El Paso and Gorditas Express and Cocina Amore in Ciudad Juárez. The number one thing we hear: “I can’t get my menu updated.”

The real problem: the website falls behind

Food costs go up, so prices change. A dish comes off the menu. You’re closed for a holiday. The Facebook page gets updated, but the website still shows last year’s prices, because changing it means texting a web developer who takes a week to answer, if they answer at all.

Customers notice. They show up expecting the old price, or call to ask if you’re open, or just go somewhere else.

Where ChatGPT and Claude help a restaurant

Paste your current menu and your new prices, and ask ChatGPT or Claude to give you the updated menu, cleanly formatted. Ask it to write short descriptions for dishes that don’t have one, or to translate the whole menu to Spanish or English. Have someone who knows the food check it.

Specials and social posts

Give it the details (“Friday special, enchiladas de mole, $11.99, both locations, 11 to 3”) and ask for three short versions for Facebook, Instagram and your Google profile.

Review replies

Paste a review, say what happened (“the order was late because we were short a cook”), and ask for a short, friendly reply. Answering reviews quickly shows people you care, and Google notices too.

Holiday hours and announcements

Ask for a short notice in English and Spanish for holiday hours, a closing for remodeling, or a new location opening. Use the same text on your website, Google profile and social pages so everything matches.

Catering and event inquiries

Have it draft a standard reply for catering requests with your minimums, lead time and what’s included, so you can answer fast instead of starting from scratch every time.

Hiring

Describe the job (“line cook, weekends, East Side location, experience with a flat top”) and ask for a job listing in English and Spanish.

What never goes into ChatGPT or Claude

  • Customer names with phone numbers or addresses
  • Card numbers or payment details
  • Employee pay, schedules with personal information, or immigration details

Describe the situation instead. If you have staff using AI, put it in writing with our free AI policy template.

Fix the website part for good

AI can write your new menu in two minutes. That doesn’t help if the website still takes two weeks to change.

Here’s what we build for restaurants:

  • A real menu page, not a PDF, that loads fast on phones and that Google can read.
  • Changes you can make yourself by asking ChatGPT or Claude: “Change the enchiladas to $12.49.”
  • Or we do it for you. On our Support plan, send the change by email or through your portal and it’s done within 24 hours.
  • You own the site. One payment, and the first year of hosting is free.
  • English, Spanish or both.

If you’re new to AI, start with ChatGPT and Claude for small business. To see what your current restaurant website is costing you, run the free site check, or see our El Paso web design page.

Questions

Can AI update my restaurant menu?

ChatGPT or Claude can rewrite your menu, fix descriptions, translate it to Spanish or English and format new prices. Getting it onto your website depends on how the site is built. On an Owned Web site, you can ask your AI to make the change, or send it to us and it's done within 24 hours on the Support plan.

How much does a restaurant website cost?

With Owned Web, a Starter site is $297 once (launch price, normally $500) and Custom sites with online ordering or reservations start at $1,000. The first year of hosting is free, then $10 a month if you want us to keep hosting it. Support is optional at $20 a month.

Should my menu be a PDF or a web page?

A web page. It loads faster on phones, Google can read it, and it's easier to update. A PDF menu is hard to read on a phone and usually goes out of date.

Can AI answer my Google reviews?

It can write the first draft. Paste the review, say what really happened, and ask for a short reply in your voice. Read it before you post it.

Is it safe to use AI with customer orders or phone numbers?

Keep customer names, phone numbers and card details out of ChatGPT and Claude. Describe the situation instead. Our free AI policy template covers what stays out.
